On 1 October, Mango, one of Europe’s leading fashion groups, will reopen its flagship store in the centre of Zaragoza, specifically at 19 Paseo de la Independencia, after a comprehensive refurbishment.

The store, located in the city’s former Coliseo cinema building, stocks the Woman, Man, Kids, Teen and Home collections. It is therefore one of the few stores that exclusively sells the Home line.Following the refurbishment, the store now has a total selling space of 1,700 m2, of which 1,000 m2 corresponds to the Woman line, 300 m2 to the Man line, 320 m2 to the Kids and Teen lines, and the remaining 90 m2 to the Home line.

The refurbishment of the flagship store is part of the refurbishment plan Mango is implementing across its stores network. It is the company’s largest store in Aragon and among the TOP35 in the world in terms of sales.

Sustainable project

The architectural project of the refurbishment of the Paseo de la Independencia store features the New Med concept, aimed at generating a low environmental impact. The creation of space has respected the existing overall structure, maintaining 90% of the store’s ceilings and walls.

Key interventions include improving the lighting of the dome located at the rear of the store, and improving and enlarging the fitting rooms to make them more comfortable, with double mirrors and the option to regulate the lighting in order to view garments better.

It is also worth noting the replacement of the existing lighting with LED lighting and the renewal of the store’s flooring and furniture, new signposting in order to improve the customer experience within the store, and the introduction of tuff ceramic as a central theme, a material similar to brick that draws on its Mediterranean inspiration.

The store distributes the Woman, Kids, Man and Home lines in different zones that represent the rooms of a Mediterranean home, and highlights a key element of traditional Mediterranean architecture, the wall, whose different volumes, solid and hollow parts define and separate the different areas, generating areas designed for different purposes.

With the refurbishment of this store, Mango aims to reflect the spirit and freshness of the brand, which is strongly influenced by Mediterranean style and culture.Sustainability and architectural integration are key to this new design, which is why new stores feature elements such as eco-efficient lighting and heating and ventilation, and a design which incorporates sustainable materials such as natural paint.
